U.S.-Pakistan Business Council luncheon in honor of the
Honorable Humayun Akhtar Khan, Minister of Commerce
of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
On the June 6, 2003 the U.S.-Pakistan Business Council hosted
Humayun Akhtar Khan, the Minister of Commerce of the Islamic
Republic of Pakistan, at the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington D.C.
Minister Khan talked with a number of members of the Council
and business community about the business relations between
the U.S. and Pakistan. During this meeting, he noted the
significance of the Council as a means of promoting direct
foreign investment in Pakistan. He added that the Council has
organized many successful events that have encouraged a number
of U.S. companies to invest in Pakistan. The Minister also mentioned
that the current Pakistan administration is working to create a
more favorable climate for investors.

US Chamber Hosts President Pervez Musharraf
On June 26, 2003 the US Chamber of Commerce hosted
Pervez Musharraf, president of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,
as part of its international forum.  Upon his visit, President
Musharraf spoke to US and Pakistani government representatives
and members of the business community regarding U.S.-Pakistani
relations.  President Musharraf noted the importance of the
U.S.-Pakistan Business Council and the Chamber’s efforts in
general as significant aids to encouraging foreign direct
investment in Pakistan.  He pledged his administration to
creating a favorable investment climate and invited the US business
community to partake in the economic opportunities Pakistan offers.
